NBA Trivia: Veteran Journeymen

This evening, while enjoying seeing my Blazers on national television, I was marveling over the longevity of Juwan Howard and Marcus Camby, and it occurred to me that they must have played together on some other team before. And that sent me to basketball-reference.com. And that got me looking at other veteran journeymen and their careers. And that got me thinking I could come up with a pretty entertaining trivia quiz based on the NBA's oldest and best-travelled players. Enjoy the questions after the jump, and the answers in the Comments.

1) In what year(s) and on what team(s) did current Trail Blazers Juwan Howard and Marcus Camby previously play together?

2) In 1998-99, the Philadelphia 76ers reached the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Amazingly, 11 years later, 5 players from that team are still "active" NBA players. Name them.

3) Which of the following has not appeared on an NBA roster in 2009-2010?

A. Kevin Ollie
B. Lindsey Hunter
C. Anthony Johnson
D. Malik Rose

4) Rasheed Wallace was traded twice during the 2003-2004 season. What three teams did he play for that year?

5a) Since being drafted #1 overall in 1995, how many different teams has Joe Smith played for?
A. 8
B. 10
C. 12
D. 14

5b) With what team has he spent the most seasons?

6) Which franchise has employed Joe Smith, Chucky Atkins, Marcus Camby, James Posey, Juwan Howard, Antonio McDyess, and Earl Boykins at one time or another in their careers?

7) Since 1997, Anthony Johnson has played for the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavliers, New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, and Dallas Mavericks. Who the fuck is Anthony Johnson?

4 comments:

  1. 1) Denver Nuggets, 2002-2003 and 2007-2008. Camby had a six-year stint with the Nuggets. Howard was there for his first year and the second half of his last.

    2) Allen Iverson, Theo Ratliff, Tim Thomas, Nazr Mohammed and Larry Hughes (the latter two in their rookie seasons).

    3) D. Rose last played with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008-2009. The rest are, astoundingly, still around.

    4) Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons.

5a) B. 10: Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks

5b) He spent four seasons in two stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, his longest tenure with any team. His three years with the Milwaukee Bucks represent his longest continual run in one place.

    6) The Denver Nuggets.

    7) I have no idea.

  2. by the way, I'm guessing everybody was focused on NCAA action, but tonight TNT had EJ, Barkley and the Jet calling the Bulls-Heat game live with CWebb, McHale, and ___ in the studio. first of all: CWebb is everything i dreamed he'd be as an analyst back when he was a player. his running joke of being obsessed with the astrological sign of pisces is killing me. second: the highlight reel they just ran of barkley's commentary at the game was absolutely classic. i hope somebody was taping that and puts it on youtube.

  4. Joe Smith is old. Has any other #1 overall pick played for more teams? I would seriously doubt it.
    Oh, Chuck. I love you.
