Playoff Power Rankings

Having puked thrice already this morning, I find myself inside on the couch on the nicest NYC day so far this year. But at least I have the Playoffs to keep me company. Here's my ranking from 1-16 of what teams I'm supporting during this post-season.

1. Portland Trail Blazers

2. Denver Nuggets

3. Atlanta Hawks

4. Los Angeles Lakers

5. Boston Celtics

6. Detroit Pistons

7. New Orleans Hornets

8. Philadelphia 76ers

9. Dallas Mavericks

10. Miami Heat

11. Utah Jazz

12. Chicago Bulls

13. Orlando Magic

14. Houston Rockets

15. Cleveland Cavaliers

16. San Antonio Spurs

Now, inevitably there are teams that win my heart over with their play in the first round, but considering that I've watched more regular season NBA this year than ever before, I'd like to think that these allegiances will be relatively static. I'd love to year y'all's rankings.

5 comments:

  1. Strong Feelings:
    1. Hornets (after Paul and West won me the cluj title, I have to root for them).
    2. Dallas Mavs (support texas)
    3. Cleveland Cavs (I love Lebron almost as much as Sovic hates him).
    4. Portland Trailblazers (fun team to watch)
    5. Philadelphia 76ers (Philly allegiance. Not strong in NBA...but there nonetheless).

    Neutral feelings:
-Houston, Orlando, Chicago, Utah, Miami, Detroit, Atlanta, Denver

    Seething Hatred:
-Boston, Lakers, and Spurs. There's no way I can root for any of these teams at all. I mean, I guess a Bron/Kobe final would be fun to watch, but I have a hard time rooting for Kobe to make it that far.

  3. i'll give my top 5 a go:

    1. cavs - i am an unabashed lebron lover. never got into MJ like a lot of ppl our age (and i know sovic hates him too and anyone that is too good) but i am all in for king games. combine that with having mo on my team in fantasy this year, plus leftover cavs-love from the mark price era back in elementary school when i loved them because they had the same name and colors as the virginia cavaliers and they're an easy #1 for me.

    2. orlando - stems from fantasy love of dwight and turkoglu (free agent pickup last year that helped me to the title)

    3. atlanta hawks - i have such a love-hate relationship with josh smith, which seems to be mostly hate. but i can look past that and enjoy watching this talented young squad. also very much respect that they punched miami in the mouth last night even though everyone thinks dwade would carry them to a round 1 victory (and the nba would love lebron-wade in round 2).

4-16. everybody else. i suppose maybe lakers, cause bron/kobe final would be neat. but really not too excited about any other team so much as the playoffs as a whole. haven't watched enough west coast hoops (b/c i go to bed at 8:30pm) to get caught up in the blazermania, but i will try to see what all the hype is about during the post season - if they can last long enough.

  4. I will take the entire Western Conference except for San Antonio. Lakers and Blazers at the top. Here are five reasons to hate Cleveland.

    1. They've knocked the Wiz out a bunch of times.

    2. Sideshow Bob

    3. Ronald McDonald uniforms

    4. They used to play in the Gund Arena

    5. Clevelanders are also Buckeye fans

    * Mike Brown is tolerable and Slovaks would be happy to know that Cleavland* is a sister-city of Bratislava.

*(Cleveland obtained its name on July 22, 1796 when surveyors of the Connecticut Land Company laid out Connecticut's Western Reserve into townships and a capital city they named "Cleaveland" after their leader, General Moses Cleaveland.)
